Out of Milk is a free shopping-list app for individuals, families, and roommates who want to coordinate everyday purchases and household tasks. It supports multiple shopping lists, shared access, real-time synchronization, and unlimited lists and shares. Lists are available on the web, iOS, and Android, giving households a way to keep the same information across devices. Its support for pantry inventory and to-do lists also makes it broader than a basic grocery checklist.
The core list experience covers several practical entry and organization methods. Users can add items by typing, barcode scanning, or voice, then sort them into categories and review shopping-item history. A cart helps track purchased items, while pantry inventory separates what is already on hand from what needs to be bought. This combination suits recurring household shopping and shared errands, especially for users who want one free service for groceries, pantry tracking, and simple tasks rather than separate apps.
Platform coverage is a clear strength, but geographic availability narrows its fit: the service is currently supported only in the United States and Canada. The published product details also do not include recipe import or verified integrations, so users seeking a connected meal-planning workflow or broader ecosystem support should consider an alternative. Out of Milk is a strong choice for free users who value shared synchronization and practical list tools; it is less suitable for shoppers who need recipe-driven planning or service availability beyond its supported countries.
