Orbit review
A free Android task calendar with offline reminders, history, search and widgets.

Orbit is a free Android task manager for people who want to organize reminders without an account or internet connection. It groups tasks into color- and icon-coded lists, with deadlines, priorities, notes and tags. A calendar displays one-off and repeating tasks, while search spans task titles, notes and tags. Its focus is a straightforward personal task calendar rather than a cross-platform planning system.
Recurring tasks are a distinctive part of the product: Orbit records completion separately for each day, so users can review a task’s day-by-day history. On-device alerts can be set for the start of the deadline day, an hour before, ten minutes before, and at the deadline. The home-screen widget lets users check off tasks and switch lists. These functions suit users who want reminders and task review on their phone, including when offline.
Orbit’s platform and distribution are important tradeoffs. It is Android-only, has no calendar sync or location reminders, and tasks remain on the device unless the user opts for Google Drive backup. The app is distributed as a signed APK through direct download, not through Google Play. That makes it a fit for Android users comfortable installing an APK who value a free, offline task calendar; people who need cross-platform access, calendar synchronization or app-store distribution should look elsewhere. Support is available by email.

- Tasks stay on the device unless backed up to Google Drive.
- Distributed by direct APK download rather than through Google Play.
