Opterius Mail review
A free self-hosted webmail client with practical administration tools.

Opterius Mail is a self-hosted webmail client for users and hosting operators running IMAP/SMTP infrastructure. It covers everyday email tasks, including reading, composing, replying, forwarding, drafts, signatures, folders, contacts, recipient autocomplete, unread counts, and full-text search across folders. The responsive browser interface supports phones and tablets, while the optional administration mode adds tools for mail domains, accounts, aliases, distribution groups, DKIM keys, DNS health checks, spam settings, and mail queues. It fits administrators who want webmail and mail-management functions in one open-source product.
The published Free plan is free forever and includes webmail and administration features. The software is distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license, making its open-source model central to the product. Opterius Mail connects through IMAP and SMTP and lists compatibility with Dovecot, Postfix, Courier, Exchange, Zimbra, and Opterius Panel. Panel single sign-on integration is also available. This combination makes it a practical fit for self-hosted environments that already manage mail servers and want a browser-based interface without adopting a separate hosted email service.
Its strongest distinction is the combination of basic webmail and optional infrastructure administration. A hosting operator can manage domains, accounts, aliases, and distribution groups, generate DKIM keys, check DNS health, and optionally work with queue and spam settings. The focus remains narrow: the listed feature set does not include a unified inbox, offline access, calendar, AI, or scheduled sending. Choose Opterius Mail for straightforward self-hosted webmail and mail-server administration; choose an alternative if broader productivity features or non-browser access are essential.
