OpenSubtitles.com review
A free Kodi add-on with detailed subtitle search, matching, and language filters.

OpenSubtitles.com is a free Kodi service add-on for finding and downloading subtitles for movies and TV shows. It suits Kodi viewers who want more control over subtitle selection, including people managing localized libraries or seeking hearing-impaired options. Searches can use IMDb or TMDb IDs, TV show or episode metadata, and filename and release information. The add-on requires OpenSubtitles.com account credentials, so it is a fit for viewers willing to connect that account to Kodi.
Search controls are its defining strength. Users can set multiple preferred languages and filter for hearing-impaired, foreign-parts-only, machine-translated, or AI-translated subtitles. The add-on also supports non-IMDb library IDs, and configurable caching can retain search results for a chosen duration. It displays VIP status and remaining daily download quota, useful context when selecting subtitles through the service. Installation is listed through Kodi’s official repository, with the vendor’s repository also described as an option.
The scope is deliberately narrow: this is a subtitle search and download integration, not a broader Kodi playback or library-management add-on. Its connection to the OpenSubtitles.com REST API and account requirement make it less suitable for viewers who prefer not to link a service account or need capabilities beyond subtitles. The published listing describes a free download and does not state a recurring add-on price. Choose it for configurable searches and language filtering; consider another option if account-based subtitle access or the add-on’s focused feature set does not fit your setup.
