Open Paging Server is free, open-source software for organizations that need public-address announcements and mass notification over existing VoIP infrastructure. It runs through web, Linux, or self-hosted deployment options and provides a web-based administration interface. Its core audience is teams managing IP phones, speakers, VoIP PBXs, ITSP connections, or Cisco communications environments that need live paging, mass messaging, bells, and scheduled announcements.

Its strongest fit is infrastructure-level broadcasting. SIP connectivity connects the product to VoIP PBXs and ITSPs, while multicast broadcasting targets IP phones and speakers. Cisco Unified Communications Manager integration extends that fit for Cisco-based communications environments. Endpoint modules and SDK support provide a path for connecting supported endpoints or extending the system. These capabilities make Open Paging Server more focused than broad notification suites: it is designed around paging and announcement delivery through networked voice infrastructure.

The product is free and open source, with Linux and Docker installation options and community support. That model can suit organizations that prefer self-hosting and want control over deployment, but it also places more responsibility on the team operating the system. The project is currently in early beta, and the vendor states that it is not yet tested or suitable for production use. Choose Open Paging Server for evaluation, development, or VoIP-centered paging requirements; organizations needing a mature production system or broader alert channels should choose an alternative. Its narrow scope and current release stage are the main factors to weigh before adoption.
