Omnibus review
A self-hosted library for organizing, automating and reading comics and manga.

Omnibus is an open-source web application for managing and reading digital comics and manga. It suits solo readers and small collections that want a self-hosted service for organizing a library, automating downloads and accessing it in a browser. Its comic discovery, metadata and reading tools bring collection management and consumption together rather than focusing only on reading files.
Library automation is a defining part of the product: Omnibus scans and manages a digital comic library, matches and syncs metadata, and can search, accept requests for and automate comic downloads. The published feature set also includes manga support. For readers who already use other apps, OPDS support connects Omnibus with compatible reading apps, including KOReader and Paperback; ComicVine and Metron are listed for metadata integrations. This makes it a better fit for people assembling or maintaining a collection than for someone seeking only a standalone reader.
The browser-based reader supports CBZ and CBR, while category specifications also list RAR archive support. Open-source licensing and self-hosting give technically comfortable readers control over running their own collection service, but that deployment model is also a meaningful trade-off: Omnibus is not simply a reader to install and open. Community is the listed support channel, so buyers seeking a commercial support path should look elsewhere. Choose Omnibus if library management, download automation and external-reader access matter; choose another option if you want a reader without self-hosting or need a verified panel-by-panel mode or cloud sync.
