Objective Redact is desktop document-redaction software for government agencies and regulated organisations. It identifies sensitive words, phrases, numbers, and structured patterns, including content in scanned documents through OCR. Users can redact individual documents or groups of documents manually or automatically, review proposed changes, apply exemption codes, and export sanitized PDF or TIFF files. The feature set is suited to established Windows document workflows that need repeatable controls around sensitive information.

Pricing is organized around three plans. Project costs $100 per month and is intended for use for one month. Team costs $274 per user per year for 1–20 users. Enterprise supports 20+ users with discount pricing. The paid plans are paired with capabilities such as batch redaction through default folders, templates for fixed document zones, manual rectangle, scribble, text, and stamp tools, and review workflows using working copies. A complimentary trial is also advertised.

Objective Redact’s strongest fit is an organization that already works on Windows and needs more than basic manual redaction. OCR-based search, pattern and structured-data searches, metadata and hidden-data removal, optional audit copies, and compliance reports give the product a broad document-governance scope. Integrations with Objective ECM and Micro Focus Content Manager may suit organizations in those ecosystems. The trade-off is platform focus: Windows-only deployment limits its usefulness for teams seeking broader operating-system support. Organizations wanting a lightweight or cross-platform redaction tool should consider an alternative, while established Windows teams with recurring review and audit requirements are the clearest audience.

Objective Redact pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • OCR and structured searches support automated redaction
    • Batch folders and templates support repeatable document processing
    • Audit copies, compliance reports, and metadata cleanup support governance
  • Where it doesn't
    • Windows-only deployment narrows platform flexibility
    • Project starts at $100 per month
    • Team pricing uses annual billing rather than monthly billing
