NumBots is a maths learning platform for primary-aged children, particularly learners beginning around ages 5–7. It focuses on subitising, number bonds, addition and subtraction through structured progression, self-paced learning, and short regular practice sessions. Story and Challenge modes give learners different ways to answer questions, while levels, badges, trophies, character upgrades and robot customisation add a game-based layer. Families, schools and tutors can monitor progress through dashboards and statistics.

Pricing is straightforward across three annual options. Family access costs £7.20 per family per year and includes up to three child accounts, two adult accounts, website or app access, progress tracking and statistics. The school subscription costs £113.15 per school per year, with unlimited pupils and teachers, teacher progress and usage statistics, an administrative area and Times Tables Rock Stars integration. The tutor subscription costs £3 per tutee per year, requires a minimum of three tutees, and includes progress tracking, website and mobile app access, plus a tutor reporting dashboard. The £3 per-tutee annual price makes the tutor option particularly suited to small-group or individual support.

NumBots is strongest when the goal is repeated number-fact practice with visible progression and adult reporting. Printable leaderboards and auto-populated certificates give schools and tutors additional ways to recognise participation, while the Times Tables Rock Stars connection can fit schools already using that product. Its focus is intentionally narrow: it concentrates on early number fluency rather than presenting a broad maths curriculum. Choose NumBots for structured practice in subitising, number bonds, addition and subtraction; choose an alternative if learners need wider topic coverage or a free entry option.

NumBots pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Adaptive practice covers subitising, number bonds, addition and subtraction.
    • Progress dashboards, statistics, certificates and rewards support regular practice.
    • School subscriptions include unlimited pupils, teachers and TT Rock Stars integration.
  • Where it doesn't
    • The learning scope is narrower than a broad maths curriculum.
    • There is no free plan.
    • The category listing identifies web support; platform coverage is limited.
