Nodyx is an AGPL-3.0, self-hosted community platform for organizations and groups that want to run their own online space. It brings together forum categories, threaded replies, polls, pinned threads, real-time chat, direct messages, voice channels, events, calendars, moderation, and public-page tools. The platform runs on Linux servers, Raspberry Pi systems, and Windows through WSL2, with web access across Linux, Windows, and macOS. It is best suited to communities that value infrastructure control and want more than a single-purpose forum or chat tool.
Its breadth is the main differentiator. A single installation can include a wiki, files, calendar, tasks, polls, collaborative canvas, and event calendars with public and private events. The public homepage builder uses drag-and-drop rows, columns, and widgets, while OctoGuard and the Neural Engine provide native moderation. WebRTC voice channels add screen sharing and audio controls, and direct messages support end-to-end encryption. Integrations include Discord, Google Calendar through iCal, GitHub OAuth, Google OAuth, RSS, and webhooks. That combination makes Nodyx a strong fit for groups seeking a unified community workspace rather than a narrow discussion product.
The trade-off is operational and platform-focused. Nodyx is free and open source, but the community remains responsible for running its own infrastructure instead of selecting a conventional hosted subscription tier. The current interface is mobile-responsive, while native iOS and Android apps are deferred. P2P relay can help host instances behind NAT, but deployment still suits teams comfortable managing a self-hosted system. Choose Nodyx for control, modularity, and forums-plus-chat-plus-voice coverage; choose another platform if native mobile apps or a fully managed hosted experience are central requirements.

- Native iOS and Android apps are deferred
- Private-space controls for selected members are not part of its documented positioning
