Napotom review
A free, open-source downloader with broad source support and practical queue controls.

Napotom is a free, open-source desktop application for downloading video and audio from YouTube, VK, and more than 1,000 other sites. It is aimed at Windows and Mac users who want a lightweight graphical interface over yt-dlp rather than a browser-based downloader. Quality choices include Best, 1080p, and 720p, while MP3 audio downloads cover audio-only use cases. The parallel download queue also makes Napotom suited to handling multiple downloads instead of processing them one at a time.
Its strongest fit is practical batch downloading. Users can queue downloads in parallel, receive completion notifications with sound, and import cookies for restricted videos. Automatic yt-dlp updates help keep the underlying download engine current, while the Windows release bundles ffmpeg. The combination of broad site coverage, quality selection, audio downloads, and queue controls gives Napotom a focused feature set for regular desktop downloading. English and Russian interface support keeps the application accessible to users of either language.
Napotom’s main advantage is its cost structure: it is free and open source, with Windows and macOS release builds. That makes it a sensible choice for users who want broad source support without a paid tier. It is less suitable for people who need a wider platform range, since the documented desktop releases target only Windows and macOS. The interface is also limited to English and Russian, and video output is described through quality selections rather than a named video format list. Pick Napotom for straightforward bulk downloads, queue management, and MP3 extraction; choose an alternative when platform coverage or a broader output workflow matters more.
