MusicBot is an open-source Discord bot for playing requested music in server voice channels. It suits server operators who want to host the bot themselves and give members command-based controls for finding tracks, managing a queue, and adjusting playback. Users can submit URLs or YouTube search terms, and Spotify links are accepted with audio fetched from YouTube. Playlist links can add multiple tracks to the queue.

Queue and server controls are central to MusicBot’s appeal. Members can display, shuffle, remove, and rearrange queued tracks, as well as pause, resume, skip, loop, seek, and change volume. Operators can configure per-server autoplaylists for when the main queue is empty, set command permissions, and block users or songs. These controls make it a fit for communities that want to shape how a shared music queue works; operators seeking a hosted service or a graphical control interface should look elsewhere.

MusicBot is self-hosted: operators install and run it on their own machine or server and configure it with a Discord bot token. Setup guides cover Windows, macOS, Linux distributions, and Android, although Android is not officially supported. The project provides documentation and community support. Live-media streaming into Discord voice channels is described as experimental, so it should not be the deciding feature for a server that depends on that capability. Choose MusicBot if you want open-source, command-driven control and are prepared to operate the bot; avoid it if you need managed hosting or officially supported Android deployment.
