MuLab is a digital audio workstation for Windows and macOS aimed at producers who want recording, editing, MIDI composition, and modular sound design in one application. It combines multitrack audio work with audio, MIDI, and automation clips, plus Timeline and Live Matrix composition views. The product is available as a standalone app or as a plugin for use in another host DAW, making it suitable for both independent production and plugin-based workflows.
Pricing is straightforward and based on one-time purchases. MuLab App Free provides a standalone version with a maximum of five tracks, but it does not support VST or CLAP plugins. MuLab 10 Plugin costs €78 one time and provides a plugin for use in other host applications, while MuLab 10 App costs €79 one time for the standalone application. MuLab For Life costs €149 one time and includes MuLab 10 App and Plugin user keys with lifetime free upgrades. The paid options give buyers a clear choice between standalone, plugin, or combined access.
Its standout strength is the modular production system. MuLab includes a modular synth, sampler, and effects engine, modular mixer routing, parameter modulation, audio slicing, sampled drum-loop recycling, time stretching, and pitch shifting. MIDI live playback supports sequences, clips, and scenes, while VST2, VST3, and CLAP support broadens its plugin workflow. Choose MuLab if low upfront cost, modular routing, and flexible composition views matter most. Producers who need a free tier with plugin support should look beyond the free app, and buyers wanting both standalone and plugin use should consider the For Life plan.
