For hotels running Mews PMS, Mews Booking Engine connects direct website reservations to property operations. Guests can check real-time room availability and rates, book online through an embedded widget, and pay with tokenized payment information. Hotels can also offer room upgrades, parking, bike rental, early check-in and late check-out, as well as bookings for spaces such as meeting rooms and parking. Branding, photos, data fields, guest languages and currencies can be customized. Its fit is clearest for properties that want Mews-connected direct sales and add-ons; hotels using another PMS should look at alternatives that fit their existing system.

The plans add capabilities in stages. Essentials includes Mews PMS, the booking engine, guest portal, automated payments and channel manager. Advanced adds a more customizable website booking engine, advanced guest experience, custom-domain email communications, automated SMS check-in reminders and Digital Key. Enterprise includes the Advanced features plus Mews Business Intelligence, customizable dashboards, Mews Open API, Booking Engine API and unlimited Mews Marketplace. According to the vendor's pricing page, listed plans require a tailored quote, so buyers need a sales conversation to assess cost. The tier structure makes the higher-level customization and API access explicit, while smaller properties should compare the included booking capabilities with their need for those additions.

The engine is web-based and also offers API access at Enterprise level. Listed connections include Expedia, Booking.com, Airbnb for Hotels and SiteMinder, and Mews describes an ecosystem of 1,000 integrations. Support channels include chat and documentation, with 24/7 support. Its published compliance coverage includes SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI DSS and SSO/SAML. Together, those capabilities make it a candidate for small through enterprise hotels committed to Mews and seeking reservations beyond rooms. Properties that need a booking engine independent of Mews, or that prefer to choose from transparent posted prices, may find a different option more suitable.

Mews Booking Engine pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Syncs room availability and rates with Mews PMS in real time
    • Embeddable reservations support tokenized payments and service add-ons
    • Books non-room spaces, including meeting rooms and parking
  • Where it doesn't
    • Requires Mews PMS, limiting its fit for hotels on other systems
    • Plans require tailored quotes rather than published numeric prices
    • Advanced booking and API capabilities sit in higher-tier plans
