MegaCAD 3D review
A Windows CAD tool combining 2D drafting with hybrid 3D modeling and assembly design.

MegaCAD 3D is desktop CAD software for constructors and primarily medium-sized companies working in manufacturing, metalworking, machinery, and related technical-design fields. It brings a full 2D drafting environment together with 3D modeling, so it suits teams that need both drawing and model-based workflows in one Windows application. Its modeling options include direct, feature-based, and parametric approaches, making it relevant where projects span both geometry editing and history-driven design.
The modeling and drawing workflow is a notable strength. Users can construct assemblies and manage relationships, edit feature history, and directly change dimensions, holes, fillets, and imported geometry. Freeform surface modeling supports shapes beyond standard mechanical features. MegaCAD 3D can also derive associative 2D views and sections from 3D models, while visualization includes OpenGL and ray tracing. Its listed interfaces cover formats including DWG/DXF, STEP, IGES, STL, Inventor, SolidWorks, Parasolid, and IFC, which may help when exchanging designs across CAD environments. The product page describes a dedicated sheet-metal add-on, but the base product does not include dedicated sheet-metal tools.
MegaCAD 3D is designed for Windows 11 64-bit systems, which makes it a poor fit for teams requiring a listed macOS or Linux version. Project work can take place online or locally, with permissions, giving teams collaboration options without making the product a cloud-only tool. According to the vendor's pricing page, buyers can choose a purchase license or rentals for one, two, or three years; the purchase license includes one year of service contract, and rentals include a service contract. Pricing is shown without VAT. Choose MegaCAD 3D if Windows-based work calls for combined 2D drafting, hybrid 3D modeling, and assembly design; look elsewhere if cross-platform access or dedicated sheet-metal tools in the base product are essential.
