Matterport captures physical spaces and turns them into immersive, navigable 3D digital twins. It suits real estate, architecture, engineering, construction, facilities management, insurance, hospitality, and other property-related teams that need virtual tours, measurements, annotations, sharing, or spatial records. Capture can come from supported cameras, phones, tablets, or 360 cameras, while viewers can access shared spaces through web and mobile platforms, with VR viewing also supported.

The Free plan costs $0 per month and includes 1 active space, 2 users, immersive 3D experiences, measurements, AI property intelligence, tags, analytics, and sharing. Starter supports 5–20 active spaces and 3 users, adding sharing and embedding plus Google Street View publishing; schematic floor plans and MatterPak technical files are paid add-ons. Professional supports 20–150 active spaces and 10 users, adds support for all supported cameras, automatic face blurring, and multiple views from one space, with several technical file formats available for purchase. Business expands capacity to 100–300 active spaces and 50 users with team collaboration, Autodesk Forma integration, 500GB attachment data, and analytics and reporting export. Enterprise adds custom capacity, SAML single sign-on, advanced user management, APIs and SDKs, audit logs, enterprise reporting, and a dedicated account manager.

Its strongest distinction is the connection between immersive capture and property workflows. Users can generate floor plans, measurements, AI-assisted property intelligence, teaser videos, GIFs, and technical exports from captured spaces, then share or embed the results externally. Integrations include Autodesk, Autodesk Forma, Procore, Amazon Web Services, and PTC Vuforia. Matterport is a good fit when the source is a real physical property and the goal is exploration, documentation, or collaboration. Teams seeking open-ended 3D scene authoring should look elsewhere.

Matterport pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Immersive walkthroughs, measurements, tags, and AI property intelligence
    • Technical exports include CAD, BIM, E57, Sketch, and TruePlan files
    • Works across web, iOS, Android, supported cameras, VR, and APIs
  • Where it doesn't
    • Technical files and schematic floor plans are paid add-ons on Starter
    • The platform focuses on captured spaces rather than general scene authoring
    • Paid plans are based on active spaces, which may complicate budgeting
