Manuscript Manager review
Configurable journal workflows with reviewer tools, reporting and research-integrity integrations.

Manuscript Manager is a hosted peer-review and submission system for individual academic journals and publishers. Its workflow spans manuscript intake, editorial review and decisions, with role-specific tools for authors, editors, reviewers and administrators. Editors can review manuscript details and PDFs, find and invite reviewers, and make decisions; administrators can track journal activity and reports. It fits teams that want configurable editorial steps rather than a general-purpose submission form.
According to the vendor’s pricing page, the Journal plan covers one journal and costs $1,188 per year with annual billing, equivalent to $99 per month, or $119 per month on monthly billing. Each includes 120 submissions per year or 10 per month, respectively; extra submissions cost $10 each. Publisher costs $2,388 per year or $239 per month and covers up to five journals, with portfolio-wide reporting and 240 submissions per year or 20 per month, respectively. Enterprise costs $10,000 per year, includes unlimited journals and premium integrations, and requires a minimum of 1,000 submissions annually. A 30-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan.
The product’s strongest fit is workflow coordination: it offers reviewer assignment and evaluation, adjustable deadlines and automated reminders, manuscript transfers or cascading to other journals, and preconfigured or adjustable templates. Integrations include ORCID, iThenticate, Publons, Publons Reviewer Connect, Penelope AI, Scite, Prophy, ChronosHub and STM Integrity Hub. It is cloud-based, web-accessible, and lists email support and GDPR compliance. Journal teams with modest submission volumes should compare the per-submission allowance and extra fees against their needs; publishers coordinating several journals may value the Publisher plan’s shared reporting. Organizations seeking a free option should look elsewhere.
