MakeSplat review
A low-cost cloud service for API-driven video-to-splat reconstruction and batch jobs.

MakeSplat is a hosted Gaussian-splatting service for turning uploaded MP4 or MOV video into standard .ply Gaussian splats, with optional textured .glb mesh generation. It targets solo users, small teams and mid-market workflows that need cloud reconstruction rather than local processing. Scans can be handled in a browser studio, through REST endpoints, or through an MCP server connected to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other clients. A browser viewer supports .ply, .splat and .ksplat files.
Pricing uses prepaid credit packs rather than recurring subscriptions, and credits do not expire. Starter costs €9 for 10 credits at €0.90 per credit; Pro costs €39 for 50 credits at €0.78 per credit; Bulk costs €149 for 200 credits at €0.75 per credit; and Scale costs €699 for 1,000 credits at €0.70 per credit. The REST API covers scan, upload, processing and download endpoints, while configurable training steps, resolution, frame count and matching allow jobs to be tuned. Parallel batch scan processing makes the higher-volume packs more relevant to repeated capture pipelines.
MakeSplat’s strongest fit is an automated, video-first workflow with cloud execution and assistant-oriented access. Automatic refunds for failed scans reduce exposure to unsuccessful jobs, and optional meshes broaden output beyond Gaussian splats. The trade-off is a narrow capture and editing scope: processing is cloud-based, mobile capture is not included, and there is no scene editor. Choose MakeSplat when API access, batch processing, browser viewing and predictable credit pricing matter; consider another tool if you need an integrated scene-editing environment, mobile capture, or local deployment.
