Mailgun is an email delivery platform for developers, marketers, and product teams. It supports transactional and marketing messages through RESTful email APIs and SMTP relay, with inbound email routing, delivery-event webhooks, templates, analytics, logs, suppression management, and email validation. Its web and API availability suits teams building email delivery into applications or managing email operations through a developer-focused platform.

The plan structure starts with Free, which includes 100 emails per day, one custom sending domain, tracking, analytics, webhooks, and one inbound route. A 30-day trial is also available. Basic raises capacity to 10,000 emails per month with no daily email limit and five inbound routes. Foundation adds 50,000 emails per month, a template builder and API, full access to inbound routing, and five days of log retention. Scale includes 100,000 emails per month, dedicated IP pools, SAML SSO, 30 days of log retention, and live phone and chat support. The published plans therefore make Mailgun suitable for teams whose needs grow from core API delivery into templates, routing, retention, identity, and support.

Mailgun’s strongest fit is a product team that needs more than outbound sending. Reusable templates, delivery metrics, event webhooks, bounce and complaint suppression, dedicated IP options, email validation, inbox placement testing, and reputation monitoring cover a broad email operations workflow. The tradeoff is that some of the more advanced capabilities appear in the higher tiers, while a simple application sending occasional messages may not need the full feature set. Choose Mailgun for a broad developer email platform with inbound and deliverability requirements; choose a narrower service when basic outbound delivery is the main need.
