LumenBoard is a browser-based virtual classroom for independent tutors and tutoring centers. It combines live video rooms, a persistent shared whiteboard, room chat and recurring student spaces, so tutors can keep lesson history and whiteboard content together between sessions. Students join through browser links. The product is designed for tutoring rather than full classrooms or school districts, with 1:1 teaching on Free and Tutor and small-group sessions added on Tutor Pro.

The plan structure is straightforward. Free costs $0 per month and includes two active tutoring rooms, up to one hour per day and three hours per week, live video, whiteboard, chat and 1:1 sessions. Tutor costs $15 per month and adds unlimited rooms and hours plus session recording with 30-day retention. Tutor Pro costs $29 per month and adds AI lesson notes, transcripts, ask-the-notes, automatic parent recaps, groups of up to six and one-year recording retention. A 7-day free trial is also available.

The standout feature is the continuity between teaching and follow-up: persistent whiteboard pages, room messages, recordings and AI-generated lesson materials keep a session connected to later review. That makes Tutor Pro the clearest fit for tutors who need parent communication or structured lesson records. LumenBoard is less suitable for teams seeking broad platform coverage, since it is browser-only, or for larger classes beyond six participants. Tutors who mainly need occasional 1:1 video lessons may find the Free plan sufficient, while regular teaching and recording needs point to Tutor.

LumenBoard pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Persistent whiteboards support multiple pages and PDF or image overlays.
    • Paid plans include recordings, while Tutor Pro adds transcripts and AI notes.
    • Tutor Pro supports groups of up to six and automatic parent recaps.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Access is browser-only rather than available across native platforms.
    • The Free plan limits rooms and weekly and daily teaching time.
    • AI notes, transcripts, parent recaps and groups require Tutor Pro.
