Loopy Pro is a music-creation and performance app for musicians, producers, and live performers who want live looping and production tools on iPhone or iPad. It brings together audio looping and overdubbing, sampling, audio and MIDI clip recording, clip launching, arrangement, MIDI sequencing, mixing, automation, and AUv3 hosting. Its custom canvas workspaces can combine clips, widgets, pages, and controller mappings, making the app suited to live performance as well as compact production workflows.

The pricing model is straightforward but has two stages. The Unlock plan costs $29.99 as a one-time purchase and provides permanent access to the purchased version, 12 months of feature updates, and lifetime bug and compatibility fixes. A 7-day free trial is available. The optional feature upgrade costs $14.99 one time, unlocks the latest features, and includes another year of feature updates. This structure gives buyers a clear entry price while separating the newest feature access from the original purchase.

Its strongest area is workflow depth for live control. Users can record and launch audio and MIDI clips, edit MIDI with a piano roll, route signals through mixer buses, host AUv3 instruments and effects, synchronize with Ableton Link and MIDI Clock, and export stems from recorded sessions. MIDI controller mapping and custom workspaces add further control over performance layouts. Loopy Pro is a strong fit for performers and producers who prioritize flexible looping on iPhone or iPad. Buyers seeking a Mac-ready workflow, VST support, or the listed future plugin formats should consider a different option until those capabilities arrive.

Loopy Pro pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Combines live looping, clip launching, sequencing, and stem export
    • Hosts AUv3 instruments and effects with audio and MIDI routing
    • Custom workspaces support widgets, pages, mappings, and performance actions
  • Where it doesn't
    • Currently available only on iPhone and iPad
    • Mac version, VST, and AUv3 plugin formats are coming later
    • The optional feature upgrade adds another one-time cost
