LiveProfessor is a desktop audio plugin host for live sound, theatre, broadcast and performance setups. It is designed for users who need to run audio effects, route signals and control changes during performances, from bedrooms and one-person bands to clubs, theatres and large venues. The software runs on Windows and macOS, including Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, and hosts VST2, VST3 and Audio Units plugins.

Its strongest area is live signal management. Audio can be routed through flexible paths with signal summing and splitting, while signal chains can contain up to eight channels. Global and plugin snapshots help organize different processing states, and cue lists can combine snapshots with routing, MIDI, tempo and audio playback changes. Hardware controller mapping and MIDI modifiers add control options for performance workflows, while virtual audio inputs and outputs support broader routing between software and hardware.

LiveProfessor uses a single €69 one-time purchase rather than subscription billing. The license covers one user across multiple systems and includes LiveProfessor versions 1 and 2. That makes the pricing structure straightforward for individual performers and production setups that need a dedicated host. Its narrower focus is also the main boundary: it is built around hosting plugins and managing live routing, rather than serving as a complete mixer. Choose it when live effects hosting, snapshots, cue-driven changes and controller-based operation are central. Choose a broader mixing environment instead when you need a fuller mixing workspace beyond plugin hosting and routing.

  • Where it doesn't
    • Focused on live plugin hosting rather than full-scale mixing
    • No free plan; the license requires a €69 one-time purchase
    • The interface may be more specialized than general-purpose audio software
