LiteCart review
A capable free storefront for operators comfortable managing their own hosting.

LiteCart is a free e-commerce platform for merchants who want to operate an online store on their own web server. It provides catalog and checkout functions, product stock and reserved-quantity management, CSV import and export workflows, payment-module support, shipping and payment validation, and a backend administration interface. It is best suited to operators who prefer control over hosting and want a lightweight store rather than a broad, managed commerce ecosystem.
The pricing structure is straightforward: the Free plan has no license charge and includes self-hosted installation. Deployment can be handled manually on the customer’s web server or assisted through Softaculous, which also supports automatic upgrades. The published requirements include Apache, PHP, and MySQL, so the platform suits teams able to manage or arrange that server environment. This model avoids a platform license charge but places hosting and operational responsibility with the store operator.
LiteCart’s extension framework and add-on ecosystem broaden its core capabilities. Payment modules, shipping support, and backend vMod editing provide room for customization, while an MCP server offers tools and resources. Downloadable products and automated abandoned-cart recovery are available through official add-ons. The trade-off is narrower feature depth, integration breadth, and channel coverage than larger full-service ecommerce platforms. Choose LiteCart when free self-hosting, core store operations, and extensibility are priorities; choose an alternative when you need a wider commerce ecosystem or more built-in capabilities across sales channels.
