linkding review
A focused, open-source choice for users who want searchable bookmarks they host themselves.

linkding is an open-source, self-hosted bookmark manager for individuals and teams who want to save, organize, search, archive, import, export, and share links. Its focus is a minimal bookmark collection that users operate themselves, with Docker-based setup and support for multiple users. Browser extensions for Firefox and Chrome, automatic metadata retrieval, tagging, and bulk editing cover the core workflow from capture through maintenance.
Its feature depth is concentrated in bookmark organization and retrieval. Search spans titles, descriptions, notes, URLs, and tags, while optional HTML and Internet Archive snapshots add web-archiving capabilities. Netscape HTML import and export support migration, and sharing allows multiple users to work with bookmarks together. Duplicate detection is included, but full-text search is not verified, so linkding is better suited to structured bookmark management than searching the contents of saved pages.
The platform fit is practical for self-hosted setups: linkding provides a web interface, Firefox and Chrome extensions, a REST API, and Docker-oriented deployment. It has no official mobile apps, and its ecosystem does not include broader integrations. Third-party managed hosting providers are listed separately by the project, while community mobile clients are not official linkding apps. Choose linkding if owning the service, keeping a small feature set, and controlling bookmark data matter most. Users who need official mobile apps, broad integrations, or full-text page search should consider an alternative.
