LinFIR review
A cross-platform toolkit for spatially averaged room and loudspeaker correction.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
For DIY audio calibration, LinFIR provides desktop tools for designing loudspeaker, crossover, driver and room-correction filters. Its Room Calibration mode captures measurements at up to 50 listening positions, automatically aligns them in time and creates spatial averages. The software runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, making it suitable for solo users and small teams working across major desktop platforms.
The freemium structure separates on-axis work from advanced loudspeaker analysis. The Free (on-axis) plan includes on-axis filter design plus design and export features. A €149 one-time Advanced Module adds off-axis measurements, directivity and CTA-2034-A spinorama analysis, spectrogram and 3D waterfall views, and near-field/far-field splicing. Buyers focused on multi-position room correction can start with the free tier, while off-axis and directivity workflows require the paid module.
LinFIR’s feature depth covers automatic target-curve matching for global IIR parametric EQ, global FIR correction for magnitude and phase, FIR and IIR crossover design, built-in exponential sine sweeps and microphone calibration files. Filters can be exported to CamillaDSP, MiniDSP, Q-SYS, Hypex FusionAmp and Powersoft Armonía. That hardware-oriented output suits users who already work with those platforms. Buyers seeking a non-desktop workflow or off-axis analysis without purchasing the Advanced Module should consider a different fit; users wanting cross-platform, stereo room calibration with spatial averaging have a focused option.
