LichtFeld Studio review
A capable local splat workspace for creators who want deep desktop control.

LichtFeld Studio is a desktop application for creating and working with 3D Gaussian Splatting scenes. It trains scenes from photographs or video, supports interactive real-time inspection, and provides selection, editing, rendering, checkpoint, and export tools. Processing runs locally on an NVIDIA GPU, making it a fit for solo creators, small teams, and mid-market groups that want local control over reconstruction rather than a hosted workflow. Windows and Linux source builds are available, alongside paid access to prebuilt Windows binaries through the LichtFeld portal.
The GPLv3 core and source builds are free. The Standard tier costs $30 one time and includes a GPLv3 Windows build, roadmap suggestions and votes, and priority bug support. Supporter costs $50 one time with the same inclusions plus more roadmap votes than Standard. These are contribution amounts rather than recurring subscriptions. The published tiers therefore suit users who want a ready-made Windows build and prioritized issue handling while keeping the underlying project open source; Linux users can work from the available source build instead.
Its standout strength is the combination of scene creation and detailed local editing. Real-time inspection is paired with brush, lasso, polygon, crop, alignment, and composition tools, while checkpoint save and resume supports longer training jobs. Python plugins and MCP resources, tools, and endpoints extend automation options. Exports cover PLY, SOG, SPZ, and a standalone HTML viewer. Choose LichtFeld Studio if you need a broad desktop editing and export workflow with automation hooks. Consider another option if mobile capture, browser-first processing, or hardware-independent rendering is central to your workflow.
