Kreyon review
Kreyon pairs a free sketchbook with a platform-specific Pro unlock for advanced tools.

Kreyon is a drawing and painting app for Android tablets, iPad and Mac, aimed at solo artists and small creative workflows. Its hybrid vector and raster canvas brings sketching, painting and vector editing into one app. The free Android sketchbook includes brushes, layers, symmetry, guides, text tools and export options; finger drawing and active styluses are supported, including pressure-sensitive input. It is a fit for artists who want a mobile-first canvas with tools for both illustration approaches, rather than a drawing app focused only on raster painting.
The free plan covers core sketching, while the optional one-time Pro unlock adds larger canvases, more layers, selection and masking tools, vector editing and frame-by-frame animation. Pro also includes folders, alpha lock, Liquify and Warp, plus perspective, figure and comic panel guides. Canvases up to 4K are described as a Pro feature. The unlock is platform-specific, so artists considering more than one supported platform should check the relevant store listing. Brush-pack purchases are separate from the app unlock, and downloadable packs can also be imported.
Kreyon’s standout is the breadth of its canvas and input tools: per-brush pressure curves, a brush library with importable packs, blend modes, symmetry, Quick Shape and guides support varied drawing workflows. Pro’s GIF and MP4 animation export and comic guides extend it beyond static illustration. It exports to image, PDF and project formats, and runs across Android, iOS and macOS. The Android Google Play listing is still titled Apex Olira; the vendor says this is the same app renamed Kreyon in September 2026. Choose Kreyon if a hybrid canvas and optional creative tools suit your work; artists who need confirmed free-tier canvas limits or a single consistent unlock price across platforms may prefer to compare alternatives.
