Ko-fi review
A lightweight membership and sales platform for creators who want direct payouts.

Ko-fi is a creator monetization platform for artists, streamers, writers, developers, podcasters and other creators. It combines one-time and monthly tips, recurring membership tiers, supporter-only posts, digital and physical product sales, commissions, custom services and direct messaging. Creators connect PayPal or Stripe and receive payments directly. The platform is suited to creators who want a single page for supporter memberships alongside lightweight commerce and community features.
The free access includes memberships, exclusive posts, products, commissions, Discord roles and direct PayPal or Stripe payouts. Standard includes tips, memberships, shop sales and commissions, plus supporter-only content and scheduled posts. Gold adds a 0% service fee, while normal PayPal or Stripe processing fees still apply. The published pricing details also show a starting price of 12, though no currency is specified here. Existing Stripe memberships may retain a 5% fee after switching to Gold, so the plan change deserves attention for established memberships.
Ko-fi’s breadth is its main advantage: creators can combine memberships with shops, commissions, discount codes, goals, polls, widgets and embeds, while integrations with Discord, Twitch, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Medium, Facebook and GitHub support audience discovery and community access. Memberships renew monthly, and content gating works at the post level rather than as a broader site-structure system. Choose Ko-fi for a straightforward supporter hub with several adjacent revenue tools; creators needing deeper site-wide access control should consider a more specialized membership platform.
