KeyShot is a desktop 3D visualization application for designers, engineers, marketers, photographers, and product teams. It imports CAD and other 3D files, applies physically based materials and lighting, and previews scenes with real-time ray tracing. The product supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and web workflows, with Linux support documented for Network Rendering. Its output options include product images, animations, interactive web viewing, and product configurators. A 14-day trial is available, while the product itself is paid and does not offer a free plan.
Its strongest fit is for teams working across CAD and product communication. Native plugins and support for 34+ CAD formats cover tools including SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Rhino, Blender, SketchUp, Fusion, NX, Onshape, Revit, 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Office. CAD LiveLinking keeps synchronized model updates in the workflow, while drag-and-drop materials, the procedural Material Graph, and physically based lighting support detailed scene development. Animation tools cover turntables, exploded views, cameras, and product reveals. Local AI tools add restyling, backgrounds, and concept images without narrowing the product to a single rendering format.
KeyShot also extends beyond rendered images through an interactive web viewer, product configurator, optional cloud or network rendering, Python scripting, and headless automation. Plan features distinguish individual professional use from business and enterprise administration: Business adds centralized seat management and Network Rendering options, with one listed Business configuration including KeyShot Office Hours and a 4-hour critical support SLA. Enterprise adds Network Rendering seats, single sign-on, and a dedicated Customer Success Manager. Education includes all KeyShot Studio features and KeyShotXR for eligible full-time students and faculty. Choose KeyShot when CAD breadth and visualization depth matter; teams seeking a free plan or Linux desktop support should look elsewhere.
