Jira is Atlassian’s project management and work-tracking software for software, marketing, operations, IT, and other teams. It supports Scrum and Kanban boards, backlogs, lists, timelines, calendars, forms, customizable workflows, reports, dashboards, dependency planning, time tracking, and no-code automation. Rovo AI search, chat, agents, and AI-assisted work are also available on paid plans. Agile and software delivery teams are the clearest fit, while its broader views and request forms extend it to other work-management needs.
The free plan supports up to 10 users and includes unlimited projects and work items, 2 GB of storage, community support, and 150 automation steps per subscription per month. Standard costs $7.91 per user per month when billed monthly and adds Rovo Search, Chat, and Agents, user roles and permissions, external collaboration, 250 GB of storage, and 400 automation steps per user per month. Premium costs $14.54 per user per month and adds cross-team planning, dependency management, customizable approval processes, unlimited storage, 750 automation steps per user per month, and a 99.9% uptime SLA. Enterprise uses contact-sales pricing and adds multiple sites up to 150, advanced analytics and Data Lake, unlimited automation, and advanced administration and security.
Jira fits teams that need structured delivery workflows across web, iOS, Android, API, or self-hosted environments. Integrations include Slack, Figma, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, Miro, and GitHub. The main trade-off is plan complexity: smaller teams can start free, but storage, automation, permissions, cross-team planning, and service-level commitments increase by tier. Organizations considering a new self-managed deployment should note that new Data Center licenses ended sale on March 30, 2026, with end of life scheduled for March 28, 2029. Teams wanting detailed agile planning and delivery controls should pick Jira; simpler task tracking may suit another tool.
