ImageIntact review
Free Mac backup software with checksum verification, NAS support, and parallel destinations.

ImageIntact is a free, open-source macOS desktop application for photographers who need verified local backups. It copies photo libraries and other media to multiple destinations simultaneously, supports RAW, JPEG, TIFF, DNG and other image formats, and preserves metadata. The application fits photographers working with external drives, NAS volumes or network drives, including workflows that use Adobe Lightroom or Capture One. Its bring-your-own-storage model keeps backup destinations under the user's control rather than requiring a cloud service.
Verification and backup control are the strongest parts of ImageIntact's feature set. SHA-256 checksum verification provides a way to check copied files, while audit logs and completion reports document backup activity. Smart duplicate-copy skipping can avoid repeating existing copies, and file-type filtering helps narrow backup jobs to selected content. Sleep prevention is also included for longer operations. Parallel backups to multiple destinations suit photographers who want more than one local or network copy from a single workflow.
ImageIntact is a focused choice for Mac photographers who want free, open-source software for RAW-capable backups to drives, NAS devices or network storage. Its main boundary is platform and storage scope: it is limited to macOS, does not provide mobile backup, and is designed for local or network storage rather than cloud backup. Choose it when checksum verification, metadata preservation and multi-destination backup matter more than a cloud-managed workflow. Photographers seeking mobile coverage or cloud backup should choose a different type of solution.
