Hylki review
Free, open-source Linux email with privacy controls and unified account support.

Hylki is a free, open-source desktop email client for Linux, designed for GNOME. It suits people who want one local application for multiple IMAP and POP3 accounts, with a unified inbox, OAuth sign-in, conversation threading, search, and full folder management. GNOME Contacts integration and recipient autocomplete support contact handling, while system-keyring credential storage keeps account access within the desktop environment. Hylki is primarily distributed as a Flatpak for x86_64 and ARM64 systems.
Its strongest area is privacy-conscious email workflow. Hylki supports OpenPGP-encrypted and signed email, mail filters, tags, remote-content blocking, and tracker protection. Scheduled sending works through an editable Outbox, and supported storage services can provide cloud attachment links through Nextcloud, ownCloud, OpenCloud, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Seafile. GNOME Online Accounts and GNOME Contacts add further fit for GNOME desktops, while OAuth sign-in covers Google, Microsoft, and custom providers.
The trade-off is a narrow platform and feature focus. Hylki is built for Linux desktop email rather than cross-platform coverage, and it does not include AI features or calendar support. The free open-source model makes it a practical choice for Linux users who value local workflows, account consolidation, privacy controls, and encryption. Users who need Windows, macOS, mobile apps, or an integrated calendar should choose a different email client.
