HoudahGeo is desktop software for adding geographic metadata to photos and videos on macOS. It is aimed at photographers who want to correlate media timestamps with GPS tracks, while also offering manual placement on an interactive map for items without a matching track. The workflow writes latitude, longitude, altitude and place names into EXIF, XMP and IPTC metadata, and supports Apple Photos synchronization. Its focus is practical location tagging rather than a general photo library or editing suite.

Track handling is a notable strength: the software accepts GPX, NMEA, Garmin FIT and Wintec TES logs, then matches those tracks with photo and supported video timestamps. Users can also import reference photos or drag and drop items onto a map. Reverse geocoding supplies country, province, city and other place names. Metadata is written without recompression, and exports include Google Earth KML/KMZ and CSV. Apple Photos synchronization and Adobe Lightroom workflows make it relevant to Mac photographers already working in those ecosystems; video support broadens it beyond still-image libraries.

HoudahGeo is paid, with license choices rather than a free plan. The Single-User License covers one named user on unlimited computers, is perpetual, and includes 12 months of free updates. The Family License is for family members in the same household, for personal use, also perpetual with 12 months of free updates. A Site License offers volume pricing for five or more users. Email and documentation are the listed support channels, and the purchase information includes a 15-day refund period. Choose it if you need detailed track correlation and metadata workflows on a Mac; photographers who need Windows or a free option should look elsewhere.
