Hortus Plan review
A focused web tool for garden plans, 3D visuals, exports and AI-assisted ideas.

Hortus Plan is browser-based garden design software for professional garden designers and contractors. It combines precision 2D boundary drawing with polygon tools, numeric wall lengths, ruler measurement and a 25 cm snap-to-grid. Users can place more than 70 plants, structures and garden items, view designs in real-time 3D, save multiple plans and share them. Its focus is practical garden planning rather than a broad landscape-engineering workflow.
Pricing is billed annually. The Standard plan costs £49.99 per year and includes unlimited garden plans, the full 70+ item library, real-time 3D visualisation, PDF and Excel exports, boundary templates, and snap, undo and precision tools. The Pro plan includes everything in Standard, then adds the AI garden design assistant, AI layout suggestions, plant and style recommendations, and priority support. A seven-day trial is available and requires no credit card, giving prospective users a short way to review the browser-based workflow before committing.
The strongest differentiator is the combination of measured 2D planning, visual 3D output and quantity-oriented exports. The four-sheet Excel workbook can support item lists and quantities, while PDF export suits plan sharing. Pro is the better fit for users who want AI-assisted layouts and planting or style ideas alongside manual control. Hortus Plan is less suitable for projects that depend on verified terrain, irrigation design or formal planting-plan features. Choose it for straightforward garden concepts, client-ready visuals and exportable schedules; look elsewhere when those specialist landscape functions are central.
