Hexabot is a source-available, self-hosted platform for building chatbot workflows and AI-powered business automation. It combines visual workflow design with natural-language understanding, knowledge and retrieval-augmented generation, multichannel deployment, analytics, team controls, and human handoff. The product is suited to customer support, lead qualification, internal service desks, onboarding, appointment flows, and operational processes, particularly when an organization wants to run the deployment on its own infrastructure.

Pricing is structured around monthly self-hosted license keys. The Community plan is free, requires no license key, and has no plan limit on projects or integrations. Starter costs $19 per month and is aimed at freelancers, indie developers, and first client deployments, with no plan limit on projects or integration connections. Pro costs $59 per month and adds priority support, roles, and longer operational history. Unlimited costs $149 per month and includes unlimited workflows within fair use plus a dedicated success channel. Enterprise adds custom quotas and governance, a dedicated success manager, priority support, and custom actions, channels, and private extensions. The vendor states that messages and workflow executions are not billed.

The main strength is breadth within a self-hosted chatbot stack: teams can combine visual workflows, AI capabilities, knowledge, memory, retrieval, custom actions, plugins, channels, integrations, analytics, and live review workflows. Web and API access support deployment across multiple channels. That breadth makes Hexabot a practical fit for teams that want control over infrastructure and a low entry price. It is less suitable for organizations seeking a fully managed service or a conventional open-source project, since the current V3 offering is source-available under the Fair Core License. Choose it for self-hosted chatbot basics with room to extend; consider an alternative when managed operations or open-source licensing is the priority.

Hexabot pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Free Community plan with no project or integration limits
    • Visual workflows, AI, knowledge, RAG, and human handoff
    • Self-hosted multichannel deployment with custom extensions
  • Where it doesn't
    • Self-hosted deployment puts infrastructure responsibility on the team
    • Source-available under the Fair Core License, not open source
    • Priority and dedicated support begin on higher tiers
