Frontstead Kit is an Apache-2.0, self-hosted development kit for brokerages, agencies, and teams creating niche real-estate marketplaces. It combines a public property-search portal, listing pages, a REST API, a PostgreSQL database, and a RESO Web API MLS synchronization worker. The kit is suited to technical teams that want control over branding, domains, MLS boards, listing policies, and property classifications rather than a packaged marketplace with a fixed operating model.

The product’s strongest area is its foundation for property discovery and marketplace operations. Consumer accounts, favorites, inquiry forms, authentication, listing pages, and portal operations cover the main interaction paths for buyers and renters. Property classification and collections support niche markets, while PostgreSQL-backed search provides the core search layer. Typesense can optionally accelerate search. MLS connectivity includes MLS Grid, Trestle, Bridge Interactive, and Spark API, giving teams several supported paths for listing synchronization through the RESO Web API worker.

Deployment flexibility is a clear advantage, but it also defines the product’s audience. Docker Compose and Railway documentation support deployment, while configurable domains and branding allow a marketplace to present a specific identity. Teams should choose Frontstead Kit when they have the technical capacity to manage configuration, hosting, integrations, and ongoing product development. It is less suitable for organizations seeking a fully managed marketplace, built-in paid monetization, or payment workflows. Frontstead Pro separately offers paid setup, managed hosting, MLS onboarding, and custom development, while the kit itself remains free and open source.
