FrameForge Studio is desktop previsualization and storyboarding software for filmmakers, including directors, cinematographers and VFX supervisors. Its virtual film studio lets users plan scenes with cameras, sets, lighting, objects and customizable characters before production. Script import and shot-to-passage links connect visual planning to the screenplay, while storyboard and shot-list exports support production handoff. It is aimed at people who need shot planning in a 3D environment, rather than only a basic sequence of panels.

The virtual studio is the product’s defining strength: optically accurate virtual cameras provide camera data in storyboards, and a visual room builder supports set and location design. A drag-and-drop object library includes interactive object and character relationships, and users can customize characters and save poses. Professional edition adds lighting, sun-position and shooting-order tools. These capabilities suit detailed previsualization; filmmakers who only need to sketch simple boards may prefer a narrower tool with less scene-building overhead.

FrameForge integrates with Final Draft, Movie Magic Screenwriter and Celtx, and exports storyboard materials as PDF, images or HTML, as well as shot lists. It runs on Windows and macOS as desktop software. The vendor offers paid Core and Professional editions and a 14-day trial that does not require a credit card; a 30-day refund period is also stated. Standard-edition prices are not disclosed on the vendor’s opened pricing page, so buyers should check directly before choosing a tier. Email, phone and documentation are listed as support channels, with 24/7 support indicated. FrameForge is a fit for solo filmmakers through mid-market teams whose workflow benefits from camera- and set-based planning; it is less compelling for users seeking lightweight, low-cost or browser-based boards.
