Focus Fidelity is a desktop room-correction suite for home-audio listeners who want measured loudspeaker and room calibration. Its free Impala application captures impulse responses at multiple listening positions with a measurement microphone and audio interface. Finetic then analyzes room resonances and loudspeaker phase, applies a user-defined target magnitude response, and shows predicted corrected results. The workflow is designed for stereo playback rather than multichannel systems.

The product is split into a free measurement application and Finetic, a $249 one-time perpetual filter-design license. Finetic generates convolution filters from Impala measurements and provides a wizard-style design workflow. Users can edit the target response, inspect predicted correction, and export stereo WAV filters at sample rates from 44.1 to 384 kS/s. Windows and macOS installers are available, and a 14-day refund period applies. This arrangement suits buyers who want a dedicated filter-design application without a recurring license, while requiring a separate Impala download for measurement.

Playback ecosystem fit is a central consideration. Exported filters work with convolution-capable software such as Roon, JRiver Media Center, HQPlayer and Accurate Sound HLC, but the playback layer remains part of the setup. Choose Focus Fidelity if you run a stereo system, need high-rate WAV convolution files, and value editable targets with measurement-based analysis. Multichannel users or listeners seeking correction beyond two channels should choose a product with broader channel coverage instead.

Focus Fidelity pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Measures multiple listening positions and analyzes resonance and phase.
    • Exports stereo WAV convolution filters from 44.1 to 384 kS/s.
    • Supports Windows and macOS with Roon, JRiver, HQPlayer and Accurate Sound HLC.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Correction is limited to stereo and a maximum of two channels.
    • Finetic costs $249 one-time; Impala is a separate application.
    • Playback requires software capable of convolution filtering.
