Figma Dev Mode review
A complete Figma-to-code handoff workspace with a capable free entry tier.

Figma Dev Mode is a developer-focused interface for inspecting and navigating Figma Design files. It is designed for teams that need developers to review layouts, typography, component properties, variables, annotations, assets, and readiness status without leaving the design context. Developers can compare current designs with previous versions, explore component variants, generate code snippets, and connect design components to code through supported integrations and Figma’s MCP server.
The published plans show a free Starter / View seat with viewing, commenting, and basic inspection access. A Professional Dev seat costs $12 per user per month when billed monthly and adds full Dev Mode access, Figma Slides, and FigJam. Professional Dev seats are also offered annually. Organization Dev seats cost $25 per user per month with annual billing and add organization-level administration, while Enterprise Dev seats cost $35 per user per month with enterprise security and administration. Dev Mode fits a broad platform environment, with web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Chrome extension access, plus connections to VS Code, Storybook, GitHub, Jira, Zeplin, Frontify, AWS Amplify Studio, and GitLab.
Its standout strength is the breadth of handoff context in one workspace: measurements, inspection details, variables and modes, asset export, version comparison, readiness notifications, component variant exploration, and linked development resources. This makes it a strong choice for teams already working in Figma and coordinating design work with engineering tools. Teams needing only occasional file viewing may find the free View seat sufficient, but those needing full Dev Mode should plan for a paid seat. Organizations that require centralized administration or enterprise security should evaluate the higher-priced tiers rather than relying on the free access level.
