EQBase review
A capable Mac audio correction tool with a useful free tier and deep Pro controls.

EQBase is a macOS desktop application for applying equalization across system audio and individual applications. It suits Mac users who want to adjust headphones, speakers, rooms or app audio from one place, with recording and preset controls included. The free, time-unlimited plan provides a system-wide 10-band EQ, headphone correction profiles, volume boost and balance, loudness compensation, Auto Switch presets, global hotkeys and one-click system-audio recording. Recordings can be saved as MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV or AIFF.
The paid tiers focus on deeper correction and audio control. Pro Monthly costs $4.99 per month, while Pro Annual costs $39.99 per year and Pro Lifetime costs $79.99 one time. All Pro plans include a 24-band parametric EQ, room measurement with automatic correction, App Mixer and routing. Pro also adds per-app volume, mute and tone controls, separate EQ per output, Audio Unit plugin hosting, convolution, and analysis tools including a spectrogram, goniometer and correlation analysis. The annual and lifetime options make the product more suitable for longer-term use, while the free plan covers straightforward system-wide equalization.
EQBase’s platform fit is clear: it supports macOS 14.4 or later on Apple silicon and Intel. Normal setup does not install a driver, but optional Audiophile mode and Pro routing use a user-space Core Audio driver. That distinction matters for users who want advanced routing rather than only equalization and recording. Choose EQBase if you want Mac-wide audio processing with a free entry point and a path to room correction. It is less suitable for users on Windows or other platforms, or for those who need only a basic equalizer without Pro features.
