ePubEditor is a browser-based authoring environment for creating multimedia and interactive ebooks. It suits publishers, educators, trainers, schools, and teams working on textbooks or learning materials. Authors can combine text with audio, video, images, annotations, hyperlinks, tables, custom fonts, typography, colors, and themes. Interactive quizzes and exercises add assessment content, while collaborative authoring supports projects involving more than one contributor.

The freemium structure gives users a Free plan with basic features at €0 per year, alongside a 30-day trial of the full version. Premium Single is intended for individual use. Premium Team adds support for groups and classrooms, while Premium Team Extended is aimed at business and school use. The plan lineup therefore maps reasonably well to different working contexts, although the paid tiers are distinguished mainly by audience and access level rather than by a detailed feature comparison here. Teams should select the tier that matches their collaboration and organizational needs.

Its strongest practical advantage is output flexibility. Projects can be exported to EPUB2, EPUB3, PDF, SCORM, or web formats, and OpenOffice documents can be imported in ODT format. That makes ePubEditor suitable when one authoring workflow must serve ebook publishing, digital learning, and web delivery. The trade-off is its web-only platform coverage, so it is less suitable for teams specifically seeking a desktop editor or a broader native-app ecosystem. Choose ePubEditor for collaborative, media-rich ebook production and interactive learning content; consider another tool if desktop authoring is a requirement.

ePubEditor pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Creates multimedia ebooks with quizzes, exercises, and annotations
    • Exports projects to EPUB2, EPUB3, PDF, SCORM, and web formats
    • Supports collaborative authoring for groups, classrooms, schools, and businesses
  • Where it doesn't
    • Runs in a browser rather than as a desktop application
    • The Free plan includes only basic features
    • Premium tiers are structured by audience, which may complicate plan selection
