Ember Notes is a personal note-taking and prompt-management app from Delightful Apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It combines rich text and Markdown editing with checklists, tables, diagrams, formulas, attachments, voice notes, folders, tags, smart filters, pinned notes, and search. Notes can be stored locally and synchronized through the user's iCloud account. Its free plan includes unlimited standard notes, iCloud sync, single-note PDF and Markdown export, and prompt templates, making it a practical fit for Apple users who want structured personal notes with a privacy-oriented storage model.
Its standout area is the combination of writing tools and AI-assisted organization. The Prompt Vault supports reusable templates and variables, while on-device Apple Intelligence can generate titles, suggest tags, and identify similar notes. Ember Notes also supports optional bring-your-own-key connections to OpenAI ChatGPT and Anthropic Claude. Widgets and Share Extension capture support quick collection, while inline PDFs, images, diagrams, and voice notes help keep reference material with the note. Biometric app and note locking add another privacy control for personal content.
Organization and portability are strong, with folders, tags, smart filters, search, and export options covering PDF, Markdown, HTML, and JSON. Ember Pro Monthly, Ember Pro Annual, and Ember Pro Lifetime add unlimited prompts and folders, 30-minute audio recording, version history, custom themes and icons, bulk export, and unbranded PDFs. The main tradeoff is platform scope: Ember Notes is limited to Apple's ecosystem, and Mac support is currently described as a TestFlight beta on the official website. Choose it for private, feature-rich notes and prompt reuse across supported Apple devices; choose an alternative if broad platform coverage or established Mac availability is essential.
