CutTap review
A capable free web editor for everyday projects, with no mobile or collaboration layer.

CutTap is a free, browser-based video editor for creators who want everyday multitrack editing without installing a dedicated application. It supports video, audio, and image imports, then brings them together on a multitrack timeline. The feature set also covers automatic subtitles through local Whisper transcription, layered text, animations, stickers, filters, transitions, GPU overlay effects, color grading, LUT presets, stock media, and sound effects. That makes it a practical fit for individual creators working on social videos, explainers, presentations, and other projects that do not require a full desktop suite.
Its strongest advantage is the amount of editing capability available in a free web app. Local project autosave and missing-media relinking address two common workflow concerns, while stock content can come from Pixabay, Openverse, Wikimedia, and GIPHY. Local subtitle generation is another useful distinction for creators who want caption creation inside the editor. Projects and downloaded media are handled locally in the browser, and exports cover MP4, WebM, MP3, and WAV. Together, these features give CutTap a broad everyday toolkit rather than a narrowly focused trimming interface.
The tradeoff is platform scope. CutTap runs on the web, with no mobile apps or collaboration workflow described in its product offering. Its export formats are useful for common publishing and audio tasks, but the published feature set does not establish a 4K export workflow. Creators who need browser-based editing, local project handling, captions, effects, and flexible media export should find the free model appealing. Teams that need shared editing, mobile-first work, or a defined high-resolution production workflow should choose a more specialized alternative.
