Cognite Data Fusion review
Connects industrial data for search, SQL analysis, dashboards, and AI/ML use cases.

For asset-heavy organizations in energy, process manufacturing, and other industries, Cognite Data Fusion brings operational, engineering, and IT data into a shared, contextualized foundation. Teams can ingest time series, documents, diagrams, and other industrial data, then search and explore it, build analyses and applications, and support operational workflows and AI or machine-learning use cases. It is aimed at enterprise environments where information spread across industrial sources needs to be connected for analysis, rather than at teams looking for a general-purpose IoT dashboard alone.
Data preparation and contextualization are central to the product. Ready-to-use extractors and connectors ingest industrial data, while extraction pipelines can be created and monitored. The platform supports integrations including OSIsoft PI, OPC UA, WITSML, and Eclipse Mosquitto, and lists 90 integrations overall. Once data is contextualized, users can search across sources and run ad-hoc SQL queries against assets, events, time series, and data-model instances. Cognite Charts and Industrial Canvas provide ways to build and share analytics and dashboards. This breadth suits teams that need to combine different industrial data types for operational analysis or AI/ML; organizations seeking only straightforward device monitoring may find the scope broader than they need.
Cognite Data Fusion is offered as a cloud platform through web and API access, so it is not a fit for buyers requiring on-premises deployment. The product lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance. Cognite's pricing model is contact sales, and prospective buyers are directed to contact a product expert rather than choose from published plan prices. That sales-led route is more appropriate for enterprise evaluation than self-serve purchasing. Choose it when industrial contextualization, SQL access, and analytics across sources are priorities; consider alternatives if cloud-only delivery or a need for readily published pricing is a constraint.
