Cockpit CMS review
A flexible self-hosted CMS for teams serving content across varied frontends.

Cockpit CMS is a self-hosted headless content management system from Agentejo for developers, agencies, marketers, and organizations that want to keep content infrastructure on their own server. Its flexible models cover collections, singletons, and trees, while REST and GraphQL APIs can deliver content to websites, mobile apps, static sites, digital signage, internal tools, and multi-brand platforms. The feature set also includes localization, role-based permissions, asset management, image resizing, and content previews, making it suitable for teams that need more control than a single-site publishing workflow provides.
The published plans make the cost structure straightforward. Cockpit Core is open source and free forever. Cockpit Pro costs €299 per project annually and adds the Core features, Pro addons, one production site, unlimited development or staging environments, and one year of updates. Updates after that first included year are listed at €99 per year. Webhooks and several other capabilities are Pro addons, so teams should map required workflows to the paid features before choosing the free Core option. Because pricing is per project rather than per user, it fits project-based deployments more naturally than seat-driven purchasing.
Platform fit is a central strength. Cockpit lists integrations and compatibility with Next.js, Nuxt, Astro, SvelteKit, React, Vue, mobile apps, static site generators, Netlify, Vercel, Slack, Discord, Algolia, Meilisearch, and GitHub Actions. Content events can trigger external HTTP workflows through webhooks, while optional Pro addons extend the product with layouts, search, synchronization, AI assistance, and personalization. Choose Cockpit CMS if self-hosting, open-source access, API choice, and frontend flexibility are priorities. Teams that prefer a managed service or want to avoid infrastructure ownership should consider a different operating model.
