ClockOut review
A capable free starter clock with practical scheduling and payroll workflows.

ClockOut is a cloud-based time and attendance product for hourly and shift-based teams. Employees can record time through a phone, web browser, or shared tablet kiosk using a PIN or QR badge, while managers review schedules, breaks, exceptions, and timesheets. GPS-stamped punches, scheduling, PTO tracking, overtime rules, approvals, and exports make it a fit for small teams that need more structure than a basic punch clock.
The free plan supports up to 2 employees and includes GPS clock-in and clock-out, basic scheduling, pay estimates, and CSV export. According to the vendor’s pricing page, Starter costs $19 per month for up to 5 people and adds geofence enforcement, break compliance, timesheet approvals, kiosk mode, recurring schedules, and PTO balances and accruals. Pro costs $39 per month for up to 5 people, adding multiple locations, payroll runs, compliance rules, attendance views and reports, and API access. A 14-day free trial is also available.
ClockOut’s strongest fit is a small operation that wants location-aware time records and a clear path from clocking to payroll preparation. Pro supports ADP, Gusto, and QuickBooks exports, while the product also lists Xero and Sage integrations. Its scheduling tools cover recurring shifts, open shifts, and swaps, and the exception inbox helps organize missed punches and late arrivals. The tradeoff is scale and platform breadth: the paid plans are capped at 5 people, and coverage is limited to web and iOS. Larger teams or organizations needing broader platform support should consider an alternative.
