ClassQuiz review
A focused, free quiz tool for classrooms that want simple self-hosting.

ClassQuiz is an open-source web quiz application for teachers and students. It supports quiz creation through an editor, including picture-based questions, and lets students join remote sessions and answer competitively. Teachers can display results, rankings, and winners, download quiz results, and collect participant information through custom fields. The hosted service is available through classquiz.de, while Docker supports self-hosting for teams that want to run the software themselves.
Its main strength is a focused workflow for live or remote quiz activities without a paid software tier. ClassQuiz supports multiple-choice and check-choice questions, multilingual use, dark mode, Kahoot! URL imports, and result downloads. The product also has no artificial player limit, with theoretical support for 1,000+ players and testing up to 300 players per quiz. That makes it a practical fit for straightforward competitive quizzes, especially when ownership of the deployment matters.
The trade-off is scope. ClassQuiz stays centered on quiz creation, participation, and results rather than presenting a broader classroom platform. Its documented question types are limited to multiple-choice and check-choice, and it does not provide verified LMS or presentation capabilities. Choose ClassQuiz when free, open-source deployment and a simple quiz experience are the priorities. Consider another product when instruction depends on richer activity formats, deeper assessment workflows, LMS connections, or presentation tools.
