Cavern QuickEQ review
A free, open-source toolkit for measuring and exporting immersive room-correction filters.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
Cavern QuickEQ is desktop room-correction software bundled with the Cavern Driver. It measures room and speaker responses with one or multiple microphones, calculates corrective equalization, and exports filters for stereo, multichannel and immersive systems, including Dolby Atmos-oriented configurations. DIY listeners, small studios and system builders who want cross-platform correction without a software purchase will find its scope particularly relevant.
The core technology is free and open source. Its workflow covers automatic EQ, target curves, crossover detection, multi-subwoofer handling, delay, level, polarity and phase correction. Results can be exported as FIR/convolution or IIR/graphic EQ, with direct formats for Equalizer APO, CamillaDSP and AU N-Band EQ. Hardware paths include MiniDSP models, Acurus Muse, Emotiva, Monoprice Monolith HTP-1, Rotel, StormAudio, Tonewinner and Trinnov processors, giving the software a practical fit across varied playback chains.
QuickEQ is focused on measurement-driven correction rather than turnkey playback management. Applying its output generally involves a compatible software, DSP device, AVR or processor, and the setup utilities or converter interfaces may not share the open-source status of the core. The project supports Windows, macOS and Linux workflows, with email and documentation as support channels. Choose it if you want detailed control over immersive correction, crossover distribution and filter export; choose an alternative if you need an all-in-one hosted workflow, mobile operation or a fully open commercial toolchain.

- Where it doesn't
- Desktop deployment requires a separate playback or DSP path for applying filters.
- Some setup utilities and converter interfaces are not open source.
- Commercial use may require a separate Cavern Pro licence.
