Castr is a paid cloud video platform for production agencies, media operators, organizations, and event teams. It accepts RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, WHIP, and pull-based ingest, then supports browser-based source switching, overlays, multistreaming, recording, hosting, monetization, and OTT workflows. Its published capabilities include adaptive bitrate and live transcoding up to 4K, plus distribution to YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, X, Instagram, TikTok, and custom RTMP or SRT endpoints.
Pricing starts at $16.67 per month with annual billing, while the Starter plan costs $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year and includes cloud recording, Live-to-VOD, an embedded player, video analytics, paywall, and TV playout. Standard costs $49.99 per month or $499.99 per year and adds SRT/RTMP pull links, in-stream advertising, and larger playout file limits. Premium costs $199.99 per month and adds adaptive bitrate, custom transcoding, domain and geographic controls, an HLS URL, API access, and three team members. Ultra costs $349.99 per month and adds failover ingest, eCDN eligibility, low-latency playback, HLS for VOD, advanced transcoder and playout controls, and dedicated support on annual billing. A 7-day Starter trial is available without a credit card, but there is no free plan.
Castr fits teams that need more than a basic broadcast destination: its combination of scheduling, infinite looping, cloud recording, Live-to-VOD, embedded HLS playback, paywalls, advertising, and analytics supports recurring or monetized programming. The browser studio reduces dependence on a single production workflow, while API access and domain controls give Premium customers more platform flexibility. The trade-off is scope and tiering: multistreaming is capped at six destinations, and higher-end delivery, access, and reliability controls are reserved for Premium or Ultra. Choose Castr for professional cloud production and varied distribution; a simpler streaming tool may suit occasional broadcasts with fewer destinations and lower requirements.
