Canon Digital Photo Professional is desktop software for importing, browsing, organizing, editing, converting, printing, and batch-processing photographs from compatible EOS digital cameras and RAW-capable PowerShot models. It is aimed at Canon photographers who want camera-oriented RAW processing without a software purchase. Alongside Canon RAW files, it supports JPEG, TIFF, and HEIF images, with tools for ratings, labels, folder organization, cropping, resizing, and file renaming.

For batch work, DPP covers the core production steps directly: RAW processing, conversion to JPEG or TIFF, image resizing, and bulk renaming, including sort-order-based renaming. Recipes let photographers reuse editing settings across images, while white-balance, exposure, color, tone-curve, and lens corrections support more controlled adjustments. Printing and color-management settings add value for users who move from editing to physical output. EOS Utility provides the listed integration point for Canon camera workflows.

The feature set extends beyond routine batch adjustments with image compositing, HDR, and depth compositing. That gives DPP a wider scope than a simple converter, while keeping its strongest fit with Canon-centered photo libraries. The main platform constraint is clear: the application is available for Windows and macOS, rather than across additional desktop or mobile platforms. A paid-subscription neural-network upscaling option is also documented separately from the free software. Choose DPP for free, camera-optimized Canon RAW processing and preset-based batch tasks; choose an alternative if you need broader camera-platform coverage or a workflow centered on other operating systems.
