Calligra Stage is a desktop presentation application developed by KDE as part of the Calligra office and graphics suite. It is designed for Linux users who need a free, open-source tool for creating and arranging slide presentations. Stage supports text, graphics, charts, images, video and animation, making it suitable for basic presentations, classroom materials and individual desktop work.

Stage is distributed as free software under the GPL, so its pricing model is straightforward: there is no paid tier to compare. Its core feature set includes presentation layouts, multiple master slides, a slide sorter for rearranging content, slide notes and annotations, slide switching controls, and ODF slide transitions. Plugin-based extensibility adds a way to expand the application, while HTML slideshow export supports presenting content through a web format. Native use of the OpenDocument format also fits workflows built around open document standards.

The product’s main trade-off is its narrow platform and workflow focus. Current official distribution information identifies Linux as the supported installation platform, and Stage does not cover PPTX import or export. Collaboration and AI are not part of the verified feature set, so teams that need shared editing, broad office-suite compatibility or assisted presentation creation should choose another presentation tool. Calligra Stage is a sensible choice for Linux users who value free software, local desktop editing and straightforward slide creation, but less suitable for cross-platform teams exchanging files in Microsoft PowerPoint formats.
